In hot climates, it's best to water in the morning so that the leaves can dry out during the day. During the growing season, it's important to keep the soil moist but not soggy. If the soil feels dry a few inches deep, it's time to water. Aim to water about 1 - 1.5 inches per week, but adjust the amount as needed if the weather is hot or very windy.
