Escallonia cordobensis plants should be watered frequently throughout the growing season, which typically begins in late spring and ends in early autumn. During this time, they should receive 1 to 2 inches of water each week, either from rain or from supplemental irrigation. To ensure sufficient moisture, plants should be watered thoroughly, drenching but not saturating the soil. Make sure the foliage is lightly damp, and the surface of the soil looks wet after watering. During the winter months when the plant is not actively growing, you should reduce watering drastically; it should only receive enough water to keep the soil slightly moist.

Escallonia cordobensis grows best under full sun to partial shade. In general, the amount of sunlight needed should be between 4 and 6 hours a day.
