Cropping Timeline
Honeyberries are shrubby plants that fruit remarkably quickly — often producing a modest first crop within two years. The elongated blue berries ripen very early in the season, sometimes weeks before strawberries, filling a real gap in the fruit calendar. You absolutely must plant two different cultivars for cross-pollination as they are not self-fertile. The flavour varies by variety from blueberry-like to more complex and winey. Extremely cold-hardy, tolerating temperatures well below -30C, but late frosts can damage the early flowers.
